Low Cost Batteries for Wireless Microphones

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Wireless mics are essential for a free flowing production or presentation.  Applications vary from church services, to performances, to speakers who don’t want to be bound to a podium.   In the Wireless mic world, there are two basic types of systems: and all-in-one unit (a handheld mic with the transmitter, battery, and antenna contained within the handle), and the two-piece system (a small mic with a separate transmitter, usually clipped to the performer).

Whichever wireless mic system is being used, quality low cost batteries are vital for a great performance.  At Medic Batteries, our Duracell Procell and Energizer discount AA batteries and 9volt batteries are guaranteed fresh and ready for critical applications, and whether you prefer alkaline or lithium for your wireless mics, our bulk pricing will provide you with the low cost batteries you need.

Buy Batteries, Then Recycle

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

At Medic Batteries, we constantly reuse packaging to ship out our batteries to cut down on our paper waste in the warehouse.   So, since we are in the battery business, we thought it would be great to provide customers with information on how and where to recycle their rechargeable batteries and lithium batteries.  Though batteries are a necessary part of our everyday lives, powering our laptops, cell phones, toys, and mp3 players, consumers that regularly buy batteries can do more to help our environment by properly recycling batteries.  Rechargeable Batteries and lithium batteries contain chemicals than can potentially pollute streams and lakes when they are disposed of in solid waste landfills.

Although the only rechargeable batteries we sell are NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride), and though these batteries aren’t considered hazardous waste, they do contain recyclable material.  Lithium batteries of any kind, whether they are primary or secondary, should be recycled.  Today’s alkaline batteries have a 97% mercury reduction since 1996, which deems them appropriate to be thrown away in your household trash, However, some recycling locations will take alkaline batteries.  It is also important to note that older batteries of any kind are encouraged to be recycled since their toxicity may be too high for solid waste landfills.

Most cities and municipalities do not have a regular recycling pick-up for batteries, but there are recycling centers in each state that do accept batteries.  To find one nearest to you click here to search by city, state or zip code.

Using your low cost batteries to their full potential

There are many ways to ensure that your batteries provide your electronic devices with dependable, long-lasting power. It is very important to us that our customers get the most from their low cost batteries.

  • Before batteries are used, clean the battery contact surfaces on the device as well as the battery with a clean pencil eraser or cloth.
  • If a device isn’t used often, it would be best to remove the idle batteries and store them properly to avoid wasting the battery life.
  • When batteries seem to be drained, be sure to remove both batteries inside the device. Don’t mix brands and don’t mix old and new batteries. A new battery’s power will drain faster when used with an old battery.
  • When storing batteries yet to be used, they are best kept in a cool (normal room temperature) and dry place. Don’t store batteries in a refrigerator, since storing batteries in extreme temperatures (hot or cold) reduce the battery’s performance.
  • Always be sure to properly store loose batteries so that the ends of the batteries do not touch other batteries or metal. This can cause the battery to short-circuit, leak, or emit high heat

Following these few suggestions should better the performance of your low cost batteries. Visit us at Medicbatteries.com to find more information before you buy batteries, or give us a call and talk with a customer expert if you have any questions on getting the most from your batteries: Energizer, Duracell, or Ultralife.
